Abezza's Resort's prime location places you within easy reach of Belize's most sought-after adventures and bucket list tours, with scenic drives that feels like part of the journey itself.
Just twenty minutes from Abezza Resort, the Altun Ha Maya Ruins stands a majestic testament to the ingenuity, power and spiritual depth of the ancient Mayan civilization. Once a thriving ceremonial and trade center, Altun Ha flourished between 250 and 900 AD, its influence reaching far beyond the borders of present day Belize. Today, its majestic stone pyramids and sacred plazas whisper secrets of the past, offering visitors a rare opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the Maya elite and feel the profound energies that still linger in this sacred place.
The site is best known for its magnificent Jade Head of Kinich Ahau, the largest single carved jade artifact ever discovered from the Mayan world. This exquisite relic, believed to represent the Sun God, symbolizes divine power and enlightenment - energies than can still be deeply felt as you stand atop the very temples where ancient rulers once communed with the cosmos.
Unlike many ruins that are reclaimed by time, Altun Ha invites you to climb its towering structures, offering sweeping views of the surrounding jungle and a chance to experience the mystical connection the Mayan had with the heavens. The air is thick with history, and for those attuned to its presence, the site carries an almost palpable wisdom — one that fuels the imagination and stirs the soul.
More than just a historical site, Altun Ha is a portal, a place where the past and present merge, allowing visitors to absorb the energies of an ancient civilization, reflect on its mysteries, and leave with a newfound sense of wonder and inspiration.
Venture deeper into the heart of the jungle and step into your own Indiana Jones adventure with a journey to Lamanai, the longest occupied Mayan site in the Mayan civilization. The experience begins with a scenic, adventurous fifty minute drive north of the resort along the historic Pan American Highway - also known as the Old Northern Highway. The storied route winds through the Belizean countryside, where glimpses of untouched landscapes and hidden history sets the stage for the adventure ahead. Along the way, you will pass un-excavated Mayan Ruin, believed to be one of the oldest sites where chocolates was first discovered and used by the ancient Maya - a testament to their advanced civilization and deep connection to the land.
The journey then continues with a breathtaking boat ride along the New River, where the real adventure unfolds. For approximately an hour, you'll cruise along a vibrant ecosystem teeming with wildlife and ancient mystery. Keep an eye out for crocodiles gliding through the water, exotic birds soaring overhead, and black howler monkey hidden among the red, their eerie calls echoing through the jungle.
As you approach Lamanai, the ruins rise from the dense rainforest like a lost world waiting to be discovered. Unlike many ancient sites, here you can still climb the towering temples, feeling the worn stones beneath your hands as you ascend to panoramic views above the jungle canopy. There's a mystical energy in the air, one that transports you to a time when these structures were alive with rituals, ceremonies and the echoes of an ancient civilization.
At Lamanai, history, adventure and nature converge in an unforgettable experience - one that feels less like a tour and more like stepping into a real life Indiana Jones moment, where every turn brings a new discovery.
For wildlife lovers seeking a close, uncaged encounter with Belize's wildlife, the Community Baboon Sanctuary offers a rare opportunity to see black howler monkeys in their natural habitat, protected by the very communities that call the area home. Located in a network in the small village of Bermudian Landing along the Belize River Valley, this one of a kind conservation project was created when local landowners came together to protect the howlers and their environment, ensuring they could continue to thrive for generations to come.
A guided tour through the sanctuary takes you into the heart of the lush rainforest, where the air is filled with the distant and not so distant calls of these powerful primates — one of the loudest land animal on Earth. Seeing them swing through the trees just feels away or stare curiously, distantly or intentionally at you, is an unforgettable experience — offering not just a glimpse into their world but a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance between wildlife and community conservation.
Crooked Tree offers early risers and avid bird lovers a serene experience. This wetland paradise is home to hundreds of bird species, including the iconic Jabiru Stork - the largest flying bird in the Americas. As the morning mist rises over the lagoon, the sanctuary comes to life with the sights and sounds of herons, kingfishers, egrets, and countless other migratory and resident birds. A boat tour through the winding waterways provides the perfect vantage point to witness the beautiful display of nature, but for the best experience, you'll definitely want to bring your own binoculars - every turn offers a turn to spot something extraordinary. Whether you are a seasoned birder ora budding enthusiast, Crooked Tree's tranquil landscape and thriving birdlife creates a connection with nature.
If the ocean calls, set off on a snorkeling adventure at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, where vibrant marine life thrives along the largest Barrier Reef in the world - and the first living Barrier Reef on the planet. Glide through crystal clear waters as you swim alongside colorful, tropical fish, graceful stingrays and nurse sharks, experiencing the reef's breathtaking biodiversity up close.
For those who crave a more laid - back island escape, immerse yourself in a day of self exploration on Caye Caulker, where the rhythm of life moves to the easy going mantra of "Go Slow", This charming island, rich in Creole culture and a history deeply tied to fishing and maritime trade, invites you to wander it's sandy streets lined with vibrant Caribbean homes, beachside cafés and restaurants and welcoming locals.
At the heart of the island lies The Split, a stunning natural channel that was created in 1961 when Hurricane Hattie swept through Belize, forever shaping Caye Caulker's landscape. The storm's powerful surge carved a passage through the island, dividing it in two and unintentionally creating what is now one of Caye Caulker's most iconic and beloved spots. Today, The Split is a vibrant gathering place where visitors and locals come to swim in the turquoise waters, bask in the sun and enjoy the island's signature laid back vibe. The Split is the perfect place to soak up the island's essence. For the more adventurous, hop on the Split to Split Ferry and take your bike or golf cart rental across the water to explore the north side of the island, a lesser-traveled paradise of mangroves, secluded beaches, and untouched natural beauty.
Whether you are diving into a vibrant marine world, uncovering the island's rich history or simply letting the island breeze guide your day, Caye Caulker is an adventure that invites you to embrace the moment and lose yourself in the warmth of Belize's charming island life.

The ATM Caves (Actun Tunichil Mughal) is one of the most awe inspiring and otherworldly experience in Belize, a journey that feels like stepping inside a National Geographic documentary, transporting you to a time and place both far removed from, yet eerily parallel to our own.
Hidden deep within the jungle, this d=sacred cave was once a ceremonial site for the ancient Mya, believed to be an entrance to Xibalba, the mystical underworld of gods and ancestors. The adventure begins with a trek through the forest before entering the cave's flooded passageway, where you'll wade through waste deep waters, squeeze through narrow rock formations and venture deeper into the cavern's haunting beauty.
